Why use ZenTube? I thought YouTube is good enough?

I believe we all agree that social media platforms want you to stay on their platform as long as you can. YouTube, in this regard, introduced Shorts, related videos, and recommended videos. They will feed you a mix of videos where it contains randomness both in the feed and in the related videos. This randomness is exactly like TikTok and Instagram reel, just scroll for a bit you'll get an instant adrenaline boost to get you hooked. It's all done subconsciously which is why it's so hard to break this habit.

There are more than 20 million new videos uploaded to YouTube every single day. Which means to you there are literally endless entertainment at your fingertips. The cost? Your time and focus.

This is why I created ZenTube. To save you time and help you stay focused. (And myself of course.)

How can ZenTube help?

ZenTube is more than categorisation and video management. Our goal is to enable you to gain back control on media consumption.

What ZenTube is trying to do is to change the way you consume online video media. That way - by seeing only what you followed and just that, separating the endless search/explore/scroll feature from the actual information you originally wanted.

You want to explore something new? That's great, go to the "Explore" tab. Found something interesting? Add the channel to your "Subscription" list. But whenever you can, or when you're out of time, just take a quick look at the "Home" page to get yourself updated, just in a glance.

The key thing we want to achieve here is to provide a stop, to separate the information you want and the endless exploring feature. There will only be a finite amount of videos you can watch per day on ZenTube and that's great. But, if you want to explore, you must make a mindful decision to search for something, knowing you might get distracted, but now you will be aware of your action. So you know what is that you originally wanted vs extra/endless entertainment.

And this autonomy is crucial for you to stay focused.

How to add a channel?

To add a channel to your "Subscriptions", simply go to your favourite channel's page, and copy the URL of their page.

It should look something like: "https://www.youtube.com/@NatGeo" for the National Geographic channel.

Then, paste it in the column on your ZenTube app and press OK.

You can also just type in their handle, in this case: NatGeo.

*It is advisable to add your channels when there's a laptop with you, or with the "Explore" tab.
